Christmas movie list

November 30th, 2006

Since thanksgiving is over, we can now talk about Christmas. Even though the Christmas decorations were out in the stores BEFORE Halloween. (heavy sigh)

I love this time of year. Winter is great and I know some of you don’t like it and I feel sorry for you. This is the time that you can make things, throw them at people and they can’t prove you did it. One, have you ever tried to get fingerprints from a snowball? Huh? What snowball? I don’t see a snowball. No evidence, no crime.

It’s also a great time for staying indoors, next to a warm fire, with a nice warm drink. Be it a hot toddy (tee hee hee), hot buttered rum, Bailey’s, Irish Coffee or even a hot cup of cocoa and snowman shaped marshmallows. OH and let’s not forget a TV. All that and a good movie makes a great nite. Especially after the kids are in bed.

So, let’s discuss movies. Well, discuss is not the right word really. How about list. Ya, that works alot better, list. Let’s list movies that need to be watched during the Christmas season, shall we? Now, please note that all these movies have a Christmas theme to them. And please feel free to add movies that I may have missed.

  1. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
  2. A Christmas Story
  3. Miracle on 34th Street
  4. Lethal Weapon
  5. Home Alone (1 and 2)
  6. Frosty the Snowman
  7. Nightmare Before Christmas
  8. Lethal Weapon
  9. A Christmas Carol
  10. It’s a Wonderful Life
  11. Ghostbusters II
  12. The Santa Clause
  13. The Ref
  14. White Christmas
  15. Scrooge
  16. Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer
  17. The Nutcracker
  18. A Charlie Brown Christmas
  19. Home for the Holiday’s
  20. A very Brady Christmas

Snow

November 29th, 2006

All the locals know what happened last night, but for those that read this from out of state…. We got snow last night. Not alot but enough to cover the ground and make the roads slick. And enough to make people wreck, because they forget that snow is frozen water, therefore SLIPPERY!

It has melted for the most part, but we are supposed to get a little more this afternoon. Just in time for the drive home.

This is great for all of us that like to snowboard and ski. We need every little bit we can get.

That’s the homestead all dressed up for Christmas. I love this time of year and usually can’t wait to put up the lights. I need more, though.

Thanksgiving is here and gone

November 24th, 2006

Yesterday was Thanksgiving. It was tough because I had to cancel a trip to Cali to see my folks. I’m pretty bummed I didn’t get to go, but these things happen. So it was going to be just the family here for the day. Then my bro-n-law’s plans changed as well. So we invited him and his kids. Then Anna’s parents plans changed. So we invited them. Then we got a call from her youngest sister that lives in Denver and they said they were coming down. WOW! Full house.

What started as just my family, turned into 12 people. Luckily we had bought enough food and then told others to bring side dishes as well.

The weather was perfect, per se. I love winter and snow and would’ve loved it, if it were cold. As it turned out, it hit about 65 degrees. What was great about this was sending the kids outside to play. Especially since our house is not huge by any stretch of the imagination.

The menu consisted of prime rib roast, potato’s, green beans, that weird orange jello stuff, mushrooms and rolls of course. Oh and plenty of beverages for all ages. Then desert was pecan and pumpkin pies, and Chocolate pudding desert. MMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!

It all came out great! And barely any leftovers. Except for the meat that I hid so I can make sandwhiches today.

Well, the second load of dishes are done and I need to start another. Oh and get outside to put up the lights. It is the day after Thanksgiving, afterall. And lights must be put up.

Sleeping through the nights is right out the window

November 22nd, 2006

Well, just as the boy starts to sleep through the night, he starts teething. Man, what irony. Poor “little” guy. Gets over one issue, just in time to start another.

Halloween in November?

November 22nd, 2006

Yes, today, Nov 22nd is halloween at the evil toddlers crib. The baby ganoosh has just stated that she wants to wear her costume. So, we obliged. Once on, she said “I go halloween”. Which is toddler code speak for wanting to walk around and knock on peoples door to beg for candy.

Roller hockey

November 21st, 2006

If you’ve read the about section of this site, you know that I play roller hockey. Man it is great. We’re all just people out there having fun and skating. It gets pretty rough out there, but not like the NHL at all. Ya, there’s pushin and shovin and and the like. But what do you expect when you give sticks to a bunch of men and tell them to all go out and try to hit this little puck.
Our team started off pretty slow this season, but we’re picking up. Getting a few wins under our belt and sadly a couple huge losses.

We play at roller king on Sunday or Monday nights. It’s pretty fun and not too expensive to play. Yes you have to have the proper equipment; shin guards, elbow pads, helmet, girdle and gloves. Oh ya skates and a stick. But once you get all that, there is very little cost at all. And you can get the equipment at places like play it again sports, ebay, inline warehouse and Big 5.

There are various levels of play, from beginner to expert. And you will feel comfortable at any of these that you play in. John Lomax and the others are great at evaluations and putting people in a division that they will fit in, very well.

If you’re interested go to www.rollerhockeyabq.com and check it out.

What a huge mistake

November 19th, 2006

As you know, I’m unemployed at the moment. Well, they also started selling PS3’s last week. I should’ve gone and waited in line to get one and put it on eBay for $3,000.00

Why Xbox is superior to Playstation…

November 17th, 2006

Some of you know that I was against Xbox for awhile. Well, then some stuff Sony started to do really irked me.

Well, when the 360 came out, I decided to get one and it is a great system. However I just read this story and am convinced that the 360 is and will continue to be far superior to Playstation.
