sleeping issues again
A few weeks ago Titus has decided to stop sleeping through the night. This is tough since it took almost a year to get him to start sleeping through. We figured out that we were putting him down, too late in the evening and started putting him to bed at 7:30 and that was doing the trick.
He has sadly reverted to his old habits. Which is waking up 2 or 3 times a night. We put him down at 7:30 and he wakes up at about 11:30 every night. Then again at around 2 or so and then whenever else. Each time he woke up he was really hungry and we know we fed him well before bed.
We tried something new, last night, and it seems to have worked. As you know, he is on Elecare which is a special formula. Basically it is “partially digested” in order to help children digest their food. Due to it being this way, it has little to no calories. Therefore, Titus has been waking up due to hunger. So we have doubled the amount of formula that we add to the water. This now doubles the cost of a bottle. However, we only need to do it at night, so it seems and it has worked for the past few night.
So, if you have a child on Elecare and they are not sleeping through the night, ask your doctor about this. It just may be the cause.

Do you think it might partly be due to a growth spurt? I know kids usually have a growth spurt around that age…just a thought. Hope your nights continue to be uninterrupted!

Partially, maybe. Only because he is using more calories and elecare has very few calories. He’s burning more than he takes in. In fact he has dropped to the 50th percentile.
